Jotun has supplied the vast majority of the pavilions at EXPO 2020. Six months, 25 million visitors, pavilions from 192 countries and a site larger than New York’s Central Park. When World Expo 2020, one of the world's largest and oldest international events, finally opened its doors in October of 2021, countries could once again unite in the exchange and exposure of ideas, new thoughts, innovation and experiences.
“The Expo was originally meant to kick off a year ago, but had to be rescheduled due to Covid-19. Now, the mega event could finally take place, and it was so special to take part in it,” says Kjetil Urheim, General Manager, Jotun U.A.E. Ltd. (L.L.C.)
Unique requirements
The Expo site, the largest one yet, consists of 200 pavilions and has been painted with over six million square metres of Jotun products.
“That includes the Expo theme pavilions – Mobility, Sustainability and Opportunity, the heart of Expo, the grand entrance canopy structures and country pavilions like United Arab Emirates, Australia, China, Russia, UK and many more,” says Urheim.
As every pavilion is unique, the Jotun team had to cater to each individual requirement in terms of protective and decorative paints.
“Jotun United Arab Emirates (UAE) played a big role in the beautification of the different elements and I’m happy to say that we successfully managed to provide for these demands in the best way possible. It is an honour for us to be the preferred paints provider for a project of this calibre”.
“This will be something that will be talked about through generations”.
The Expo 2020 will be open to visitors from 1st of October 2021 till 31st of March 2022
